What Causes Gum Recession?

The two biggest problems to consider when talking about gum recession are:

1. Gum Disease

2. Manual damage to the tissue.  ie. Brushing too hard.

Gum disease is a biggie.  It often occurs very slowly.  Sometimes fast.   Over time gum disease can destroy the bone that holds the gum tissue up.  Recession happens that way.   There just isn't the same structure present as before.

Many people only notice the damage that has been accumulating for years as they get older.  Therefore, many people mistakenly think gum disease is an aging problem.  It's not.  You can be six years old and have gum disease.

Here are some resources to help you understand more about this problem and what you can do:

1.  Book:  What You Should Know About Gum Disease  - A Layman's Guide

2. e-book :   How To Stop Gum Disease In 4 Easy Steps.

3. HydroFloss oral irrigator.

Brushing too Hard - also a biggie.  Many people do this.   Stop it if you are doing this...
