Periodontal Pocketing And The HydroFloss

Who Is This For?

1. A person who has deeper than 3mm periodontal pocketing (and knows it - most people don't)

2. A dental professional that is interested in what might be available to help patients get and keep their gums healthy and to shrink deeper than 3mm pockets.

Does it work for everyone, 100% of the time?  - No That would be impossible. Nothing  works 100% of the time for 100% of the people.

Does it work for a lot of people?   Yes, based on my personal experience and the shared experiences of the many people I have spoken to over the years.

Is there clinical evidence?   Yes, peer reviewed too!   Journal of Clinical Periodontology May of 1993 and April of 1998.

Periodontal Pockets

Roughly speaking, this is a measurement of how far a periodontal probe can fit between a tooth and the gum tissue surrounding it before meeting resistance.

Generally speaking, this number should be 3mm or less which most dental professionals would say is a healthy reading.

Conversely,  anything above 3mm, generally speaking, would be considered unhealthy by most dental professionals.

Therefore, you goal is to get your pocketing down to 3mm or less.

When you do that, the gum disease process would be effectively controlled.  This means the bacterial population wouldn't be at levels high enough to continue damaging tissue.

To complicated?   No problem,  the take away is:  Get and keep your periodontal pockets to 3mm or less as measured by your dentist or hygienist.

The nice thing about these numbers is that they are more or less objective.  You simply ask your dentists what your pocket depths are and you can monitor your situation and know when you have improved or worsened.

Healthy tissue does not feel pain when they are taking these measurements.   If you have the sensation of pins being stuck into your gums, that is just one more indicator that you have diseased tissue.

The HydroFloss

If you are a dental professional, I suggest that you get several of these and try them out on your patients,  let them use them and then measure the results for yourself.

If you are a person who has gum disease issues and want to shrink those pockets.   Try the HydroFloss - if you can get those pockets shrunk, as measured by your dentist or hygienist, then you will be very happy.

Getting your pocketing down to normal levels can help you save or keep your teeth.    Gum disease afflicts somewhere between 50 and 80% of the population (depending on who you listen to)

Worse, gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss.

If your gums are healthy, you can also avoid expensive surgeries and deep cleanings.
