Hydro Floss - Why Are There Different Tips For The HydroFloss?

That's A Great Question!

There are different kinds of HydroFloss tips designed for different depths of periodontal pockets.

A periodontal pocket is determined by the measurement of how far a probe can be slid between a tooth and the surrounding gum tissue. Generally speaking, 3mm and below is considered healthy - above is genereally considered unhealthy.  These measurements are to be taken by your hygienist or dentist.

If someone has 5-6mm pockets they may wish to have the special tips for those depths.

If someone has 8-10 mm pockets, there are special tips for that as well.

Your Periodontal Pocket Goal

The end goal is to bring the pocketing down to 3mm or below around all teeth - as measured by your dentist or hygienist.   At that point and generally speaking most dentists will consider your gums to be healthy.

This means there should not be further tissue damage / erosion due to gum disease (providing the 3mm or below is maintained).  Oh - and you probably get to keep (the rest of) your teeth at that point as well.

Gum disease is the number one reason people lose their teeth. Most dental professionals will tell you that about 3 out of every 4 people have gum disease right now. It is only a matter of time as the disease progresses until the person finds out.   People typically won't know it until told by a professional or the damage gets so bad (receding gums and loose teeth) that they can see it for themselves.

Most people have gum disease and it is only a matter of time before they are told by their dentist that they have it. This is usually done when it is time for an expensive treatment. I wrote a book for everyone called : What You Should Know About Gum Disease - A Layman's Guide To Fighting Gum Disease.

This is not just a book for when you find out you have this problem.  It can also help you understand this problem before it becomes bad enough that you are told about it.   And  you may be able to stop it from getting to a point where you need an expensive treatment.

In short - If 3 out of every 4 people have some gum disease right now (if we are to believe our dental professionals) - then EVERY family needs this book.   And even if you are an individual, chances are high that you need the information in this book as well.

I hope that I have been able to shed some light onto the question of why there are different tips for the Hydro Floss and I also hope I have provided you some valuable clues that will help you stop / prevent problems (especially the expensive / painful ones) in the future.

Many expensive dental procedures could be avoided in the first place, if patient's were more educated about prevention.   My favorite.

Hydro Floss PSI (Pounds Per Square Inch) Significance

The water pressure on the Hydro Floss goes to 60 PSI maximum.  There is a good reason for this that you should fully consider and understand.

HydroFloss has determined that 60 is close to the maximum PSI that is safe for your gum tissue.

There are other brands that do go higher.  However, I have to wonder about the safety of using those.

The Hydro Floss has been clinically tested to be nearly twice as effective at reducing plaque and tartar build up between your regular dental cleanings compared to other irrigators that do not have the benefit of its patented magnetic technology.

Effectiveness is not a product of PSI, contrary to what might seem likely.    It has everything to do with the patented magnetic technology that the Hydro Floss employs.   Read more.

So, whenever I hear from a customer who talks about water pressure as their key point in buying an irrigator,  I feel sad that they have not yet fully grasped the truth of the matter.

Useful Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator Information - video

This is a link to the post where you can find the resources mentioned in this video.

Here is the video:

The Hydro Floss oral irrigator is one of the most powerful tools,  in my opinion, for the promotion of dental health at home.

Peer reviewed, journaled studies have shown it to be about twice as effective as an irrigator that does not have its patented magnetic technology.    These studies were published in the prestigious Journal of Clinical Periodontology in may of 1993 and again in April of 1998.

Why that is important to you is because reducing the plaque and tartar build up between your regular office cleanings is key to protecting your tooth and gum health.

Bacteria that cause tooth decay and gum disease like to hide under the plaque and tartar.  When they are shielded from oxygen (which is the reason they create plaque and tartar) is to shield themselves from oxygen.

Once that happens, they begin to use a form of metabolism that secretes acid waste byproducts.  These byproducts or 'waste' products attack your gum tissue and your teeth.  This can lead to cavities and gum disease.

Since dental professionals commonly tell us that about 75% of people have gum disease today, it is important to understand the advantages that the Hydro Floss can provide you - even over other brands of oral irrigators.

Since gum disease is the number one reason people lose teeth and need dentures and implants, it only make sense that you will want to fully understand what the Hydro Floss can do for you.

It's easy to understand and quick to use.  I even wrote a free guide on this machine called :  How To Stop Gum Disease In 4 Easy Steps.   -   You can get your copy here.

Next, read more on the Hydro Floss

How Old Is Your HydroFloss?

Question From A Potential Customer:  How Old Is Your Hydro Floss?

This is a question that I received this morning:  What year model is your Hydrofloss?

Today's date is January 29th 2013.  Here was my reply to this inquiry:

Hi [name removed]

We have the current model.  Our latest stock came in less than 60 days ago.   (and probably less  than that actually).

Here is a link to our Hydro Floss:

Journal Of Clinical Periodontology Publishes Study On The Hydro Floss

Journal Study On The Hydro Floss

There were actually two studies published on the HydroFloss oral irrigator.

This one was published in May of 1993.  The title is:

The Effect of Oral Irrigation With A Magnetic Water Treatment Device On Plaque And Calculus.

The chief researchers were Clifton D. Sutton (George Mason University - Center for Computational Statistics, Department of Operations Research and Applied Statistics),  Cecelia Rosenfelder (Dental Hygiene, Reston Va), and Dan L. Watt (General Dentistry, Reston Va).

Published in J Clin Periodontol 1993; 20; 314-317.  ISSN: 0303-6979.

The results were deemed 'statistically significant'  and indicated that supra-gingival calculus and its accompanying plaque was greatly reduced.

A second research project was completed and published in April of 1998 in the same journal with similar results.

The study itself goes into detail about the study, how 14 patients were removed from the study results when they could not or would not comply, etc.    The paper also goes on to speculate on theory about Calcium and Phosphate ions and how the effect of the magnetic could be hindering the formation of plaque and calculus.

If you want to read the Journal article yourself, please check the above reference so that you can find locate the article.

The addition of a properly oriented magnet appears to make a big difference!

The Hydro Floss is a powerful tool.   Check one out now.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Hydro Floss

'Secret' Tips

I'm going to give you some 'secret tips' to maximize the benefits that you get out of your Hydro Floss.

It is truly an awesome machine.  The whole point of using it is to help protect your dental health.

Over the years I have talked to many people about their Hydro Floss and how they use it.   Most of the people are getting great results but I occasionally  run into someone who is not getting the results expected.

They continue to struggle with their gum health and deeper periodontal pockets.   (deeper than they should be)

NOTE: [ Periodontal pockets should get to and remain at 3mm and below - generally speaking most dentists would consider that 'healthy'.   Above 3mm is generally considered 'unhealthy'.]

When I ask a person in this situation about the frequency and quantity of use I almost always find out they have not been using it enough!

Best Practice

While it is truly impossible for everyone to get great results, many people should get good results.

Sometimes the people I mentioned above are using their Hydro Floss as little as once every other day and only a quarter of a reservoir (tank) per use.   That is far to infrequent to get good results!

The ideal usage is this:   Use the Hydro Floss twice per day and two full tanks (reservoirs) per use.  If you want to optimize what you get out of your machine that is what you should consider doing!

Sound Like a Lot?   NO, actually it is not that much.   If you put your Hydro Floss on the number 9 setting  (or the "high" setting on older units) you can drain a full reservoir in 2 minutes and 10 seconds (approximately).

That means two reservoirs in the morning is under 5 minutes and two in the evening is also under 5 minutes.   That's less than 10 minutes per day to get the 'best' results!

If you are not getting the results you want from your hydro floss as measured by your dentist or periodontist (periodontal pocket depths) then consider increasing your usage to this recommended amount.

If your pockets are good, as measured by your dentist or hygienist, just keep doing whatever you have been doing!

Cleaning Your Hydro Floss On The Inside

Many people will experience a slow down over time with their hydro floss, this can be due to the buildup of minerals on the inside of the machine.   You can test it by filling up a single tank and putting your unit on 'high' or '9' and time how long it takes to drain a tank - it should be around 2 minutes and 10 seconds.

Any more than that means your machine is not performing as well as it should.   Your 4 reservoirs per day will therefore take correspondingly longer!

One tip you can use to help extend the life of your machine is to run a quarter cup of white vinegar through it once or twice a month.    Remember to run a full reservoir of water behind that so that you don't get a vinegar taste in your mouth the next time you use your machine.

This can help to keep the mineral deposits to a minimum.   Of course, if you have hard water, the mineral deposits inside may build up quicker.

The Story Of The Hydro Floss

The Story

One day there was a man who was worried about his teeth.  He visited a periodontist and this doctor told him,  "Your teeth are going to fall out and there is nothing I can do to stop that.  When they do fall out, come back and I'll give you a new set of teeth."

The man was shocked and, of course, very upset.   But he had an idea.

He happened to work in an industry where they used magnets to keep pipes clean.  He wondered if the same concept would work for helping to save his teeth?   Could the plaque build up be mitigated?

He took a regular old oral irrigator and took it apart.   He fitted it with magnets set to the way he thought would be correct.   He started to use the modified machine.

Later, he went back to the same periodontist and was told that his teeth were no longer in danger of falling out.

This is the story as related to me who was present in the same house this man lived in.

This is how the Hydro Floss came into being.     I did my best to relay the story as it was told to me.

The Story Explains a Lot.

It is a powerful story and it helps to explain why the Hydro Floss is superior to other oral irrigators.

I believe that over time,  more and more people are going to find out that the Hydro Floss helps them to preserve and protect their dental health.

Some Doctors Have Been Telling Their Patients About This Machine For A Long Time

There are many dentists over the last 25 years or so who have been turning their patients on to the Hydro Floss.   When used properly, the machine has the potential to save you and your family a lot of money over the years.

What is that saying?  "An Ounce Of Prevention Is Worth A Pound Of Cure?"

Outside of dental offices the machine has gained notice from other doctors as well.

The Hydro Floss has been discussed by Dr. Mercola.   And it has also appeared on and was discussed by  The Doctors TV Show.

This Tool Is For Ordinary People To Use And Benefit From

You do not need to be a doctor to utilize this machine.  It was made for home use and it should be used daily.   I wrote an instruction guide on how to get the most out of this machine (best practices) along with some basic information that explains a lot more.

My customers are smart people.   I have customers that are both doctors and laymen.   I find that the non-doctors often understand this machine better than some of the doctors do.   This is because they know it saved them from an expensive treatment.  They know it helps to keep their periodontal pockets in check because they hear the difference in measurements directly from their hygienist or doctor.

I frequently hear from customers who tell me that they do not want to be without their Hydro Floss even for a few days.  They want their new one right away!  We usually can get them to a person fast.

Of course, regardless of what people say and think.  There is nothing that works 100% of the time for 100% of the people.  I guess the only way to know is to try it and ask your doctor if your dental health has improved during your next regular office visit!

The Hydro Floss Is The Top Oral Irrigator

Simply The Best - The Top Oral Irrigator.

Oh, I suppose you could argue that it is my opinion, but frankly, you would be wrong.   The Hydro Floss really is the best and I will tell you why.

IT Gets Results

I have my own personal experience and I have had the privilege of talking with dozens if not hundreds of customers over the last few years.  The experiences they relay to me are often similar to my own.

I was able to utilize the Hydro Floss to get an objectively measurable difference in my periodontal pocket depths.   I was once told I needed a SRP or 'Deep Cleaning' treatment.   In the US, these can get quite costly.   I used the Hydro Floss a lot for about 5 months.

When I returned to the same dental office, the looks of shock and amazement on the face of both the hygienist and the dentist were quite pronounced.    My dentist said, "Whatever you are doing keep it up, you no longer need that treatment! (The SRP)   I was delighted.

But, when I began selling the Hydro Floss, I heard from many customers who have also been able to reduce their periodontal pocketing and avoid expensive treatments!   Sometimes they mention this in the product review section of our site.

One man, just the other day was buying a new one from Toothy Grins Store.  He said, "My current one is not even broken,  I just want a spare so that I don't have to go without the Hydro Floss."

Another man liked his results so much that he bought 5 the other day to give to all of his relatives!

This is the kind of response that comes about because something works.  It is not imagination, it has worked for a lot of people!

It Has Been Documented

The Hydro Floss has been tested by professional researchers and their results have been published in the peer-reviewed journal:  The Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

This did not happen once, but it happened twice.  Once in May of 1993 and again in May of 1998.  The researchers in both studies declared their results to be statistically significant.    This means, the results were unlikely to be random.

They used one machine with magnetic technology that comes with each new Hydro Floss against machines were the magnetic technology had been removed.   The difference in results was, again, significant.

So you have two avenues form which to look at this:

1. Clinical research

2. Customer product reviews.

Why take a chance on something that may not provide the absolute best possibility to get results?

The Hydro Floss Is documented and customers get results.

Of course, every human body is different and results can't be 100% guaranteed for everyone - that would be impossible.   But, the vast majority of people I have spoken with, have been able to obtain good results.

What you want is for those periodontal pockets to be at 3mm and below.  Generally speaking, most experts would say your gums are healthy at that point.

Sincerely,
David Snape

Cost of The Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator

The normal cost of the Hydro Floss is $98. If a person or business is selling them lower than that, then you have to be suspicious. Is it a real Hydro Floss? Does the manufacturer support it?

There are standards for those authorized to sell the Hydro Floss.   And no one is allowed to advertise a price lower.  As I said, if they do, then you may want to ask yourself if the company or person doing that is legit.

$98 Is Cheap Compared To Your Potential Savings

What is really important though, is what a REAL Hydro Floss can do for you.   I will give you my personal experience as an example.:

The dentist and hygienist I was visiting around 2005 or so where really pushing a SRP treatment (Scaling and Root Planing).   The cost on average for full mouth treatment is $1600.   And this treatment ofetn has to done again in a few years because the underlying issues may not be addressed.

I was also told that upon gettting this treatment, my regular cleanings would have to be special ones from that point on.  And of course, that meant greater expense.

I had to wonder what that meant for my gum tissue.  Was there something wrong with this procedure?

I was certain that was not the best thing for me.  But everything I tried only had minimal effect.

Finally, I started using a Hydro Floss.   After 5 months of regular use I went back.  This time I was delighted to see the shock on the faces of  the dentist and the Hygienist.   I had won the battle against gum disease.    My pocket depths had improved.

The denstist said,  "Whatever you are doing, keep it up.  You don't need that treatment now."

YES!

$98 had immediately saved me $1600 plus ongoing care costs.   And keeping my gums healthy has and will continue to save me tons more in the future.   I was only in my mid 30s at that time, so you can imagine how much more treatment I would have needed into old age.   Not anymore.

I know what to do to keep my gums healthy and the savings on my initial 'investment' continue to add up.

Now imagine that saving X4  for a family of four people.  One hydro floss can be used by the whole family.  It comes with 4 color coded jet tips.   If your family is bigger than four people, you can get some additional tips inexpensively.

A single machine can serve a large family.

A single machine can save you a LOT of money.   If your situation was like mine, then it can do so almost immediately.   The long term savings are also something  that are quite immense.

Read more about the Hydro Floss now.

Pocket Pal Jet Tips

One additional item worth considering is the pocket pal jet tips.   They don't cost a lot but they can perhaps help you to an even greater extent.   You can read about the Pocket Pals here.

Keep in mind that when I speak about these things, I do so in general terms only.  If you have a specific question about your unique dental health situation, those questions should be directed to your periodontist or dentist.

Hydro Floss DVD

The Hydro Floss DVD

It is true that many years back, the hydrofloss oral irrigator used to ship with a DVD - well not really, it was a CD Rom.    But, that is not the case any longer.  Brand new Hydro Floss units do not ship with videos any more.

There actually are DVDs available and we have some.  We will gladly include one in with your new hydro floss purchase upon request.   Best thing to do is either order over the phone at 888-586-6849, or when you order over the Internet, there is a note section at checkout, you can put a note there for us.

We will only do this for new purchases and only while they are available.

However, I can give you access to the videos that are on those discs right now.

You'll find them both on this page:

http://www.toothygrinsstore.com/HydroFloss-p/hydrofloss01.htm

Just scroll down the page until you find them.

One is an education video and the other is a 'care and use' video.   You can learn from both of them.

If you want to get written information (very different than what is in the videos) about getting the most out of your Hydro Floss, you can simply  have this free report:  How To Stop Gum Disease In 4 Easy Steps

The report is only about 25 or so pages long.  It explains what gum disease is in very easy to understand terms and briefly.   The rest is about how to get the MOST out of your Hydro Floss and how to measure your results (very important).   With this knowledge you may be empowered and have a much better chance to achieve better gum health!

The results will be measured by your hygienist or dentist but this report will help you understand what the numbers mean to you and whether you need to focus on improvement or if you can breathe a little easier.

Panasonic Portable Irrigator EW-DJ10-A

Portable Panasonic

ew-dj-10A Panasonic irrigatorThis irrigator is made for travel.   It is small and compact and runs from two AA batteries.

However, there is a drawback.  The chamber that holds the water, as you will see in the video below, is a bit small.

If you don't mind refilling it a few times to do an adequate irrigation job, then that would be no problem for you.   But, if you are not sure you want to do that, this might not be the right irrigator for you.

Of course, in order to be 'portable' it needs to have a small chamber.   You are likely to run into the same problem with other portables too.

The nice thing is the battery chamber.  You can use a small coin to open the twist part and the two batteries go inside that chamber.  No need to worry about chargers or power cords!

Not As Powerful As This:

Of course, this little baby is not as powerful as the hydro floss and it also lacks the hydromagnetic qualities that the hydro floss offers.  But, for a short trip, it is much better than nothing at all.

I did hear form a Hydro Floss customer once who told me that she wanted to travel with her Hydro Floss.  She travels a lot as a bank VP.  Once she found out how the Hydro Floss improved her dental health, she did not want to be without it.

Her Solution?

She told me that she kept the original packaging that the Hydro Floss came in.   That packaging encases the Hydro Floss in a nice protective snugly fitting dress of Styrofoam.  She said that it protects her Hydro Floss nicely and she is happy to travel with it.

Maybe some people don't want to travel with a full size irrigator.   In that case, the portable panasonic is a good choice.

What You Should Know About Gum Disease Part 22

Gum Disease Book Video Series - Part 22

Part 21

Part 23

Full Book In Print Form

Favorite Home Care Device

Contributing Factors To Gum Disease

Immune compromising disease, diabetes, smoking and chewing tobacco can contribute to worsening a gum disease issue.   The later two you can do something about.  And you should.  Of course, there are many other contributing factors as well.   We also talked about genetics vs environment earlier too.

Periodontal Pocket Depths

These numbers are very important to you.  You have possibly heard me mention a time or two that gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss and professionals tell us that about 75% of people have it.   In addition, everyone seems to think they are in the 25% that don't!

One objective way to check on the health of your gums is via the periodontal pocket depths.  If these are 3mms and below, generally speaking most dental health practitioners would consider that healthy.   However, if you are above 3mm, most would feel that you have a problem.

Knowing these numbers becomes your objective guage to your dental health.   Therefore, you should ask for those numbers on every dental office visit.  They should be taken them on every visit as well.  But that doesn't always happen.  So ask.

Keep those numbers as a reference to check on what you are doing at home.  If the numbers get better on your next visit, then you know you are improving.  If they stay the same (assuming there was a problem) or get worse, then you need to evaluate what you are doing at home and make adjustments accordingly.

Hopefully, you fully realize how important these numbers are and how equally important that you keep track of them.   Unfortunately, most people have never heard of what you just read and if they have, they may have forgotten.  It's just not common knowledge - but I think it should be.

Few people are out there explaining this key concept.  Therefore, I thought you should know.

 The Full Book

There is a lot of information in the book,  I think every family should have a copy on their book shelf.  If 3 out of every 4 people have gum disease, what are the chances that someone in a family of four have this problem and need this information?

I think the answer is obvious.

Sincerely,

HydroFloss Is Different Than A Water Pik

The HydroFloss is Not A Water Pik

Most of my customers are well informed about what a Hydro Floss is and how it is different from a Water Pik (or any other brand of oral irrigator).   Many get the Hydro Floss on the recommendation of their friend or their doctor.

In the case of a friend, it is usually someone who discovered that using the Hydro Floss helped their dental health to improve.   They realize it is saving them money over the long haul by reducing the need for expensive treatments.   Dentists recommend it because they also know that it has a positive affect on periodontal (gum tissue) health.

Since 75% of people, according to dental professionals, have some gum disease,  this becomes ever more important.   Dentists and hygienists are on the front line, they see periodontal issues all the time, probably every day or multiple times per day!

Limit On Pressure

The HydroFloss is limited to 60 PSI an amount that is considered safe for gum tissue.   However, many other brands of oral irrigators go as much as 50% higher.   I've used the HydroFloss for many years now and believe me, the pressure is plenty strong enough.   You don't need more and it is better to be safe than sorry.   The reason the Hydro Floss works so well is:

The Magnet

The Power of the Hydrofloss comes from its magnet.   The magnet places a charge on minerals that make it easier to reduce plaque and bacteria.    Researchers found that this magnet resulted in a significant reduction of plaque and tartar build up between office visits, when compared with other brands of irrigators.

If it matters to you, this was documented twice in a professional, peer review journal called: The Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Why I Bring This Up

As I mentioned before, most customers do understand why the HydroFloss is important to them because they have read the information about it in depth or they have a personal experience or their doctor recommended to them.

I do occasionally run into a customer who doesn't know the difference.   I do not have the heart to say anything negative.   I only bring up this topic because I do occasionally run into a customer who doesn't understand and I would like more people to be aware.

My most recent experience was with a customer who bought a hydrofloss because the man who sits next to him and his wife for all the basketball games (they have season tickets) told them how great the Hydro Floss was.   The wife decided to buy a Hydro Floss.

The man called me and mentioned that he wanted to return the Hydro Floss because they did not realize it was 'like a water pik'.   "Well, sir, it is really not like ... "

I hope by now, you understand why it is not 'like a Water Pik'.   I'm not putting any brands down here.  I am only explaining that there is a difference.    In fact, we may start carrying Water Pik for those customers that really want them.   But I digress...

This post is about the Hydro Floss,  if you want to know more about it, I have put a lot of information on this page.

I respect all brands.  I am just explaining the differences here between a HydroFloss and other Oral Irrigators.    It seems that many people think of a single brand when they think of an oral irrigator and that brand happens to be Water Pik - which is a credit to their long standing in the marketplace.

In case you are wondering, I still use a Hydro Floss daily and intend to keep on doing so.

If you are still not clear on the differences,  read this page or call me at 1-888-586-6849 .  You can also read about the customer reviews

HydroFloss Customer Reviews

 The Hydro Floss

At Toothy Grins Store, we have obtained some rather impressive customer reviews for the Hydro Floss.

You can read them here:

http://www.toothygrinsstore.com/ReviewsList.asp?ProductCode=HydroFloss01&Reviews=Y

We have approximately 12 pages of these reviews all written by real customers over the last 3 or so years.

I am very happy to sell the Hydro Floss as it is one of the tools that I mention in the book: What You Should Know About Gum Disease

I have heard from a good number of people over the last several years.  They have told me about their experiences with the Hydro Floss and how it has really improved / helped their dental health.

Incredible Benefits And Dental Health Prevention From the Hydro Floss

When you think about it,  $98 is really nothing if you can save yourself from one dental surgery, one SRP treatment,  one implant or even one simple cavity and filling.

The Hydro Floss has a proven track record and has been around for about 25 years now.   Yet, many people are still unaware of how much it can help them.   I have kind of turned it into a mission of mine to help people become more aware.

There really is nothing else like it.   It is NOT a Water Pik.   It does more than other irrigators can do and that has been clearly documented in a professional journal twice!

That journal is The Journal Of Clinical Periodontology.    If you are not sure, Periodontology is the study of the tissues that support your teeth.   They are very important and keeping them healthy should be the primary focus of your dental home care.

Gum disease is an affliction and we are told by professionals that about 75% of people have it.   This problem is also the number one cause of tooth loss.

The 'bad bacteria'  are responsible for cavities, gum disease, bad breath and more.   Have you heard some people make the point that the problem "is not sugar".   In a sense they are right, but on the other hand, not absolutely correct.   The sugar feeds the bacteria.  In turn the bacteria create acidic waste products that attack your tissues.   More sugar equates to more acid!

This cycle causes oral health problems.  Under plauqe and tartar is where the 'bad bacteria' grow and accumulate under a shield from oxygen.

The Hydro Floss has been shown to create a much greater reduction in plaque and tartar build up when compared to irrigators that do not use the same patented magnetic technology.

This is the primary reason the Hydro Floss is superior.   You can help me educate people on this topic by liking and sharing this page as well as the other pages on this site.

What You Should Know About Gum Disease Part 21

Gum Disease Video Series - Part 21

The Series

As we continue are series on gum disease whereby I am reading at least the first four chapters and making this video series,  I hope that you are able to glean some information as well as see the value of what is contained inside the book: What You Should Know About Gum Disease

Gum Disease

Gum disease is truly a widespread problem.   If you know you have it, you are definitely not alone.  If you don't know that you have, the odds are pretty high that you may have it regardless of whether you have been made aware of it yet or not.

A great deal of people remain unaware.  We can deduce that as being true because dental professionals tell us that 75% of people have gum disease.   Since that equates to about 3 out of every 4 people, I am confident in saying that plenty of people have it and just don't know.

Expensive Treatments

I was faced with an expensive treatment that would have cost me about $1600 had I chosen to accept it.   Perhaps a little less with insurance, but I am pretty sure it would not have been much less.  I was also told that consequence of the treatment would be the need for a special cleaning every time I visited in the future.

Of course, that 'special' cleaning would cost more than 'normal' cleanings.   I had to wonder if that meant there would be some damage to my gums.   What else would require a 'special' cleaning every time in the future.

All of this is often bewildering when you are confronted with it initially.   You may be overwhelmed first by the news and then by not understanding what is going on.

Although I speak in general terms here and specific questions about your dental health should be directed towards your dentist,  you might find it helpful to learn the information I have put in this book.   Perhaps it could help you to avoid expensive treatments.

Since gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss, perhaps one of the more expensive treatments you could face is the installation of an implant.   They can be quite costly and insurance is not likely to pay for much of that.

Fighting Back Against Gum Disease

Perhaps, armed with the right knowledge, you could truly turn the tide, safe teeth and avoid a lot of costly treatments.  Every human body is different, but it seems to me that you will gain at least something from this book, even in the worst case scenarios.

However, it also seems to me that there is a good chance that you could learn some things that could make a major difference in your own dental health.  Aside from potentially saving money, time and pain, you might also relieve some of the anxiety that comes with not understanding a very horrible and often slow acting disease.

Researchers have found plenty of suspected links between gum disease and more serious diseases.  An anesthesiologist told me that he was certain they would see less heart surgery if people cleaned up their gum disease first.    He might very well be correct!

Interesting Perspectives From My Customers

I had an interesting conversation with one of my customers who purchased a Hydro Floss today.

We talked about the work of Weston Price and potential problems with some popular health food items today.  We also talked about radioactivity in Europe and now on the West Coast of the US.

It is quite amazing how many of us easily forget about the radioactive disasters of yesterday that can be affecting our food supply and ourselves today.

Anyway, I digress.  We are here to talk about gum disease.  But, I truly enjoy the different perspectives I hear from my customers about all things health.  Regardless of whether I agree or not, it is almost always interesting hear various viewpoints from everyone.

At any rate, one thing we can be relative certain of is that about 75% of the population exhibits some form of gum disease right now.  Ask any dentist, hygienist, periodontist, or oral surgeon, they all know the problem is widespread.   That is why I believe every family needs the information contained within this book, whether they realize it or not.

A few weeks ago,  an anesthesiologist who also bought this device from me and works for a busy hospital told me that he was sure that gum disease had an awful lot to do with the cardiac disease they were constantly treating.  Many researchers have long suspected links between gum disease and many other diseases.

When you think about this, it isn't really all that new.   As you can see in history, one always checked the condition of a horse or other work animal before purchasing it.   Theyintuitively knew that a diseased mouth reflected the state of the rest of the body.   They would not buy work animals with bad teeth.    Isn't that fascinating?

Gum disease is a big problem.   Many times you can do something about it.   However,  if regular brushing and flossing were 'always enough', would we see the high incidence of gum disease that we do?  I will leave the answer for you to think about.    Perhaps you will draw the same conclusion  I have.

Knowledge is Power

If knowledge is power, not having enough would be ignorance then, wouldn't it?  Sometimes the technical language and professional language are a big barrier to understanding.
The subtitle to What You Should Know About Gum Disease is "A Layman's Guide To Fighting Gum Disease."

It is so for a reason.   I have put things in an easy to understand format and repeat the key points over and over again from different angles.   It is to drive home what this disease is and what you have to achieve to overcome it.   While the amount of effort varies from person to person, because every body is different, it is hard to get anywhere if you don't have the right information.

One key point is that the fight against gum disease,  regardless of whether you want to stop it or prevent it in the first place is a daily struggle.   No one is going to work on your teeth everyday, except you.  It isn't practical or possible to get a dental cleaning every day.  Yet, the plaque must be disrupted every day.

Perhaps brushing and regular flossing really are good enough for some people,  but what about the majority of people?   Again, you can draw your own conclusion.

Perhaps the book: What You Should Know About Gum Disease is one that belongs on your family's health book shelf?

Video Series

I am committed to putting the first four chapters of the book: What You Should Know About Gum Disease - The Layman's Guide to Fighting Gum Disease on video.

You can follow the series, which starts here: http://tobeinformed.com/2749/what-you-should-know-about-gum-disease-part-one/
This can be particularly good for those people that you would like to reach, those whom you know could benefit from the Hydro Floss and could benefit from general knowledge about gum disease in the first place.

If you happen to be a dentist, this video series could be a useful patient education tool.

The majority of my customers are not dentists and it would be great for them to watch as well. The entire book was designed to help people understand the problem of gum disease while working hand-in-hand with their dentist and hygienist.

Finally, we have a blog at Toothy Grins Store. Which you can find here: http://blog.ToothyGrinsStore.com
You can drop by there and leave a message or just read the latest news / information.

Once more, please remember to put your order in before Monday at 11:00 AM to insure that your package(s) arrive before Christmas.

Thank you again for being a customer at ToothyGrinsStore.com

Sincerely,
