This is, of course, a very natural question.  It's also a very private one.  Which is why you came to this page, no doubt.    This isn't a conversation that most people are willing to have.

So, I don't want to disappoint you.

That's a very positive action because frankly, there just isn't that much good information out there on this topic.

Slaying Dragon Breath

Like that graphic?   I thought it was appropriate for this post.   So, slaying dragon breath requires the right products. 

Why is that?  It is because so many products are built upon lesser concepts in my way of thinking.

Slaying The Dragon

Let's make an analogy here.  You have a fire breathing dragon, very fierce fellow.   But what happens when you put too much oxygen in the dragon's mouth when he tries to breath fire?   Uh, oh, you might even explode his head.   No more dragon!


Well, let's say the cause of bad breath is these anaerobic (oxygen hating), sulfur compound and acid waste product creating bacteria.   Now, what is the one thing that they have in common with the dragon?    Too much oxygen is detrimental to their health and well-being.

And therefore, you need oxygenated products.   And there are not many out there.   In a minute I'll show you where you can get all you will ever want.

pH Balance

This is another important factor.   You seed the bad breath causing bacteria are generally the ones who love an acidic environment.  In such a situation, they can grow faster.  Making more of themselves to further pollute people's breath.

Raising the pH of the mouth should have the effect of slowing them down.   Then knock them about with oxygen.  

Now, lets combine oxygen and pH balance together into one product line!

When Nothing Else Has Worked For Bad Breath

I know a lot of people out there are struggling.  They want a solution to their problem and have tried many products from drugstore counters.

Aside from temporary cover-up, they get no long term relief from the problem.   Still experiencing a lack of confidence because you are not sure if your breath is "on" or "off"?

You are not alone.  There are millions of people who suffer either temporary or long term (chronic) bad breath.

I want you to consider trying ths. 

The reasons why are as follows.

1.  It is important to use something that will actually address the problem of the 'bad bacteria' themselves.   These are the ones that emit volatile sulfur compounds - largely responsible for bad breath.

Why Are Probiotics For The Mouth Important?

This is an interesting concept that relatively few people are aware of.  The idea of probiotics for the mouth is to shift the bacterial population to a healthier one.

It is a similar concept to probiotics for the gut.  When there is a strong healthy bacterial population, it is much harder for the 'bad' and 'harmful' bacteria and even other organisms to get a foothold.

Yogurt can be beneficial, but there also probiotics created especially for the mouth.   The K-12 strand it one in particular.  People with this type of bacteria rarely suffer from bad breath issues.

The 'bad bactera' (anaerobic in nature) are responsible for cavities, gum disease and even bad breath!
By making the healthy colonies stronger, you might be able to prevent more of the bad ones from getting a foothold.   This is the basic concept of probiotics for the mouth.

2 Possible Reasons You Have Not Been Able To Eliminate Bad Breath

1. The first possible reason that you have not been able to eliminate bad breath is that you are using the wrong approach.   Most of the products out there today are simply focused on covering the smell of bad breath but do not actually do anything about attacking the cause of bad breath.

Some products even contain things like alcohol or forms of soap that cause drying of the mucous membranes in the mouth.  This drying out can actually help more bacteria to grow!   This in turn makes the bad breath problem worse! 

Most bad breath is coming from the waste products of 'bad' bacteria.  If you simply cover smells and do nothing to reduce the population sizes of bacteria as well as changing the kind of bacteria in your mouth, you have little chance of longer term success.

Bad breath in the morning is something that many people consider 'natural'.   It does not necessarily have to be that way. 

2.  The second possible reason that you have not been able to stop bad breath is that you do not actually understand where it is coming from.   While the majority is going to come from the anaerobic, volatile sulfur compound producing bacteria that live in the folds of your tongue and other parts of your mouth, there is another possibility.

All the tongue scraping, and even use of good quality products (not most of the ones you generally find on store shelves), is not going to do any good if the problem is coming from tonsil stones. 

Don't be mislead by that term.  Yes, most of these little stones are found in tonsils, but they can also be found in other places like the back of the throat.    So, even if you don't have tonsils, you cannot necessarily rule this possibility out. 

Of course, there may be some other reasons that I missed.  But I do think these reasons are going to cover it for most people.

Coffee Breath Got You Down?

Most of us love that morning cup of Java!   And for good reason.  It seems to really get the gears turning.  

We love to make it to get that kick start before firing up the computer or commuting to the office.   The coffee shops all open their doors early to catch this morning crown and the ensuing profits every morning! 

The downside to all of this is coffee breath!  We can really annoy our coworkers - although they may have their own coffee breath as well.    Yet, it is no fun to get to that morning meeting just wreaking of coffee. 

When you are in the spotlight it can be noticeable and when you are NOT in the spotlight it can also be notable.   In either case, their is a good chance someone will notice the coffee stench.

What Can We Do? 

What should we do about this situation?   There are two measures to take. 

But first it is important to realize that the acid from the coffee itself will make bad breath producing bacteria multiply faster.  It's like a self perpetuating double whammy.  With more bacteria, they produce more odor and more acid.  

You can see that this can turn into a feedback loop that grows itself!  

Short Term Measure 

The first measure is short term.   Do not try to cover up those oders with short term solutions like mints and stuff like that.   They cover the smell - temporarily, but the feedback loop mentioned above is not eliminated. 

The acid also harms your teeth at the same time.  (see: why coffee is bad for your teeth).

Use this special gum, that is designed to attack the root cause of the bad breath rather than just cover a smell up.   It may also help to neutralize some of the acidity. 


Long Term Measure

2 Concepts For Conquering Bad Breath

There are two aspects to beating bad breath that many people have overlooked.

The first one is pH balance.   Higher pH is great for slowing down the growth of bacteria.

The second concept is oxygenation.  This is something that the vast, vast majority of products on shelves do NOT address.

Anaerobic (oxygen hating) bacteria produce the volatile sulfur compounds and other smelly stuff that is responsible for bad breath.    Since oxygen is what they hate and fear - why not give them plenty of it?

Can You Really Stop Bad Breath?

Well, that is the big question, isn't it?   The truth of the matter is, no one can be certain.   This is because what works for one person may not work for another.

Every human body is different and every situation is compounded by unique circumstances.  That is why there is no way to say something will work for everyone.  We are all different.  

That's just a basic fact about the human body.  It also explains why there is so much confusion over  medications and dosages today.   Each body is different and there is just no legitimate way to standardize that stuff  - but I digress.

We do have a starter kit for fighting bad breath.   Here is how you will know if it works for you.   Read all the instructions that come with it.   Follow the instructions diligently.   Then ask someone close to you to check your breath.

Why can't you tell yourself?   Sometimes you can, but often times, you just can't tell.  The reason is that we often get used to our own breath.   It is a lot like a person who smokes.  You walk in their house as a non-smoker and all you can smell is that smoke.   But the smoker inside is so used to it that they don't even notice!   It is the same concept.
