Gum Disease

Yes, it really is a huge problem that many people face.  One issue is that many people do not know they have it.

As I do tire of saying, dental pros tell us that about 75% of people have some gum disease.  That is 3 out of every four people.   But I can pretty much guarantee that you can line up 10 of your friends, and most of them would not believe that they had gum disease.   We know otherwise based on the above stat.

So, what do you do when no one is willing to accept or believe they are part of the 75%?   There is little you can do.   You have to wait until the problem progresses to the point of needing and expensive surgery. 

That's when a  lot of people figure it out or become concerned enough to ask their dentist about it.  But it doesn't have to be that way.

Prevention is key.
