Is Ritalin A "Bad" Drug?

 'Forced' To Medicate?

I remember hearing a few stories about Ritalin in the past.  And one of the things that seems to have made more than a few mothers mad was that they felt that schools 'forced' their children into taking Ritalin.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I don't really know what that means.  So I'll ask you if you know any stories like that first hand?   I don't know the truth of the matter but it seems that having the child on Ritalin was made to be understood as a condition to the child being allowed to stay in school.

Is that really true?   Again, I'm only sharing with you some old stories that I heard.  Do you have experience with anything like that or know of anyone who does?  Please share those stories in the comment section below.

Chemically Similar To Speed?

I also heard that Ritalin was chemically very similar to Methamphetamine.   Do you know anything about that?

I wonder if it would be better if we looked at more natural ways to deal with behavior problems, instead of going straight for medication?   I wonder if it is a bad idea to expose a young, developing brain to a constant, daily barrage of chemicals?

What if there were plant based alternatives to this drug?

If you have stories on this topic, please share them in the comments below.  I sincerely would like to learn more about the troubles that people have had with this particular 'medication'.   Is Ritalin a "bad" drug or a good one?

Sincerely,
