There is really nothing like our eyes.
They fill a large amount of sensory input to our brains. Having the gift of site is wonderful.
Walking down a wooded path and seeing the rich and diverse colors, plants and animals is a wonderful experience. None of that would be possible without our eyesight.
Having the privilege to work and contribute to society and our families has a lot to do with our eyesight. It is not to say that you cannot do so without eyesight, its just that the opportunities are more abundant and diverse.
We use our eyes for everything we do. It's not really possible to drive a car or a bicycle very far without our eyesight. Our eyes are so very important.
Having sharp, clear eyesight is also important. So many times we just allow ourselves to get stronger and stronger eyeglass prescriptions without every asking: Is there another way?
Without our glasses, the world is a bit too blurry and we become dependent on external instruments to help us see clearly. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a way to improve vision?
I have even read that Shaolin monks have eye exercises. I don't know how true that is. But, if it is true, the wisdom they have from thousands of years of martial arts history would suggest that eye exercises are worth doing.
Here is a modern eye exercise program
Take a moment to think about how important your eyes are the next time you are walking down the street, playing golf or walking in a wooded area. I think your new found appreciation will make you very thankful to have your eyes!
Keeping them in good working order is important to our quality of life as well.
I hope you have enjoyed this article.
