If You Get In A Hurry, You Fall Behind...

This is another lesson from my College chemistry professor.   You can read the first one here.

He used to say that a lot.   It took me a while, but I also eventually realized that he was giving me another life lesson.

In fact, I need to learn this one better.  He is correct.  The more you begin to hurry or panic, the worse things get.

Yet, I think we all do it.   I may even be a little bit worse than average in this aspect.

I'm always thinking about the 100 things I need to get done.   With the mind so fully occupied, it is harder to get anything done.

So, this professor was really teaching some good life lessons.

It's been about 20 years since I last saw him.  He was a good teacher, even if it has taken me a while to get his finer points.

Do you have a college professor or any teacher for that matter that has taught you something that took you a while to actually 'get'?    If so, I would love to hear your story.  Please use the comment section below to share it.

you fall behind when you get in a hurry

  1. Hi David,

I learned some lessons from a 6th grade social studies teacher. She was a nun, one of the first women to graduate from Columbia University, so it shows you, she was quite up there age wise lol....but sharp as a tack, and she just passed away at 97 I believe.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing. She made us write this in our note pads, first page and 27 years after the fact I STILL remember it lol.

Thanks for sharing the neat quote ;)

    1. Hi Ryan, that sounds like a great lesson. You've carried it with you and I bet others from that class have too! There were some really good teachers along the way. I wish that kind of learning could just keep going on sometimes!

  2. Hi David, my first grade teacher always told me I rushed too much. I still do at times to this day. I try to slow down but then lose my pace. Rushing does cause errors. I need to find a slower pace that works well :)

    1. Hi Lisa, it's funny how teachers can notice stuff about us that even our parents don't notice. I guess we should cherish our school years. Would be nice to always stay in school, wouldn't it?
