What I Think You Really Need To Be Successful...

After thinking about this for some time, I think there are three things (actually four) that must be in place for you to be successful.

1.  You need correct and accurate information

2.  You need to be able to understand what the information means.

3.  You need to be able to synthesize an action plan based on that information / data.

1.  You cannot do much without correct, accurate information

2.  you really need to be able to understand what that information / data  means including nuances and intricacies.

3.  You need to be able to formulate an action plan that actually works.

Finally,  all of this is for naught if your success is not fated to be yours.   This is because there is an intelligence and plan for the universe.   Since human beings are trivial, you can only have what you have when it is in accordance with that plan.

In actuality, it could be said that you only need one of these factors:  fate on your side.

These are my thoughts up to this moment.

Anything to add?

what you need for success. Sincerely,

  1. Hi Dave, Your post has me thinking. Information is valuable but never perfectly accurate. Successful people go ahead with partial information. You do need to understand information, at least to roughly approximate its effect on your goals and current strategy. You also need a plan of some sort, but as Patton said, "A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week." And plans that include self-correction are more successful. Regarding fate, yes, it exists, and to a great extent character is fate. Successful people insist on shaping themselves and their behaviors to be successful. They see when fate snatches away victory, but they don't give up. The Universe does hold intelligence and it has conveniently placed it between our ears. We have but to use it. And never, ever, ever, EVER give up. :)

    1. Hi Astro, I do agree that you cannot and should not wait for perfection. This is a major stumbling block for all of us. We need to remind ourselves that 'good enough' works!

You can also definitely learn from executing an imperfect plan.

This place that we live in, it does seem to be a training ground or a place to learn. We are still very primitive and the Universe is very big from where we stand.

I think that just realizing that we have a very long way to go is helpful.

    2. I often tell people to read the book, Zhuan Falun. I think we can all find some very good answers there.
