My Simran Step Down Transformers Really Work Well

I have two Simran's that I run all of the time

These simran step down transformers are real work horses.  I can leave them plugged in for weeks or even months at a time with no problems.

In the last few years, I've only had one out of 4 go bad and that was only after several years of full time service.

I live in Europe currently and I need a transformer for my favorite American products to run on 220 voltage.

My simrans really do the trick!

I had tried another power converter previous to this one and it burned out right away.  In contrast, the simrans keep on working, day in and day out!

If you are traveling to Europe

If you have electronics or personal gear that you need to run and it is only made for US current, then you need a transformer.  Unfortunately,  the voltage in Europe is twice that of the US and your gear will not work.

In fact, if you try to plug it in to Europe's 220 system, you will burn it right up.   I've done it so trust me, you want a transformer.

One time, I simply used an adaptor instead of a transformer.  This is a big mistake.  The adaptor does nothing more but make your US based plug work on a European electrical socket.   But, it does nothing to step down the voltage.

If you make this mistake, you will burn up your equipment.  Regardless of whether it is electronics gear or personal care gear, you will destroy it.   I had a personal hydrofloss unit that I destroyed in this way.

However, I have since discovered that my hydrofloss works great with the simran transformer  As I mentioned before, I can leave it plugged into the machine for months at a time with no problems at all.

So, be forewarned.  If you are going to take any 110V American applicances or electronics with you to Europe, you had better get a transformer (power converter).   You may also need an adaptor to fit the local electrical sockets.

But DO NOT make the mistake that myself and others have made.  Do not simply use an adaptor without a transformer.  It can even be dangerous to do so.

Here is a video on the Simran that you can watch and learn from:

Inexpensive Step Down Transformer

In addition to really being a workhorse that just doesn't quit, these Simran's are really inexpensive.

I really do not believe that all transformers are created equal.  As I mentioned I had another brand in the past that just plain burned out very quickly.

The Simran's are apparently built to last.

If you are struggling to see the model number in the video it is the SMF-200   It says the input is good for 220/240 volts running at 50-60 HZ.

The output is, of course the standard 110/120 with 50-60HZ that you find in the US.  Therefore, this converter is capable of taking the 220 European voltage and reducing it to the voltage you need to run your US made appliances and electronics.

What more can I say about them?  If something works, it works.

Gear I've used My Simran on.

I've run my HydroFloss on the Simran for a very long time.  It can easily handle the power demands of the Hydrofloss.

I also use my vonage box and it needs US power, so I power it with one of my Simrans as well.  I also run my PC and sometimes even my MACBOOK PRO.

However, the voltage regulator on the laptop is capable of transforming 220 voltage so I simply use a different plug (from Apple) with it and it works fine.  So, I don't need the Simran for my MAC.

However, I run my PC off a Simran.  I've never had any power problems.  No fluctuations, no damaging power spikes - nothing like that.  It just works!

I also recharge my electric toothbrush off a power strip that is powered by the Simran transformer.  This is because my electric toothbrush is made in the USA!    So, it works for that as well.

Another Reason That I Stress That You Must Use A Transformer

Occasionally, I get a call from someone who would like to use their HydroFloss in Europe.  I try to explain that you need a converter (transformer) but sometimes the message just not sink in.

One man sent a HydroFloss to his son in Europe.  Unfortunately, he did not pass the message onto the sun that he must use a transformer.  The son used an adaptor without a transformer and burned up his unit.

So it is very important that anyone wanting to power any US based appliance in Europe understands that there is a big difference between a power adaptor and a converter (transformer).

You might need both, but you definitely need a converter!  You might not need, depending on where you are, the adaptor.

The adaptors are quite easy, you can go to a local hardware store and get one for like $1 or something like that.  However, once again, do NOT use it without a converter on US appliances or electronics.  You have been warned!
