Dangers of Switching to Google Plus For Your Comment System

As you can see on this post,   The old comments were all changed to  "anonymous".   That probably means the old commenters  will not be notified when there is an update.

In addition,  it appears that spam will be a problem.  Each spam comment will need to be manually deleted because there is no good spam catching plugin to stop them.    If blogger or google + doesn't have a way to delete the spam comments, I'll have to manually remove them all.

There is also no way to alter the comments and remove the spam links that spammers put in.
Perhaps I should try switching back to the old comment system?   I wonder if the "anonymous' posts will return to the users' names?

Just an FYI for everyone.  Maybe a googler will read this and do find a way to fix these drawbacks?

Sincerely,

  1. UPDATE: I turned Google + comments off and went back to the standard blogger comment functions. The reason why is that there were a lot more options for commenting. Google + forces you to have a google + account in order to comment - currently. maybe that will change one day.

In addition, it turned all old non google+ comments to "anonymous". Switching back brought back the old comments with the proper names of the commenters.
