I thought this would be an interesting question to ask. Typically, we are told that eye prescriptions are related to the eye elongating or developing an abnormal shape during growth.
But, if that is the case, why do people continue to change prescriptions even after growth - but before the age of 40?
I hope it is clear what I am asking here? If you have an opinion or information share on this question, please do place it in the comment section below.

what do you think about this? are the prevailing theories about what "goes wrong" with the eyes correct? Why do so many people need to wear glasses?
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't normally get to hear tweeps voices! :D
ReplyDeleteDunno, wear and tear? I've heard a theory that excessive screen time and reading books can make people short sighted because they aren't changing their focuss enough.
Yes, I can certainly believe that. In today's age, there is little chance of escaping near point activities. Yet, there are still some who manage to go without glasses their whole lives! that's pretty good! (I don't mean just 'going without' - I mean truly not needing them).
DeleteIt could be that you hit upon something there. I saw a Video about a man who had better than 20/20 vision - he spent his life doing archery and specialized in hitting moving targets. Yet at the time of this test he was older - If I had to guess, over 50. Yet, his vision tested at 20/15 or something like that. Amazing. Maybe tracking targets his whole life has a lot to do with that?
