HydroFloss FAQ

These questions pertain to the HydroFloss Oral Irrigator

1. Why is it different than other irrigators?  -  The hydrofloss uses a magnet.  Water passes through the magnet and the minerals in the water pick up a charge.  This charge causes plaque and bacteria to become less adhesive so that they come off much easier.

This results in a much greater reduction of plaque and tartar buildup between your regular office cleanings compared to other irrigators that don't have a magnet.    This has been scientifically validated and proven and the results were published, not once, but twice in a professional peer reviewed journal.

The journal I am referring to is the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.  The first article was published in May of 1993 and the second in April of 1998.  Both articles showed an approximate 50% greater reduction in plaque and tartar buildup compared to irrigators that did not have a the magnet.

As a side note: Not just any magnet will do.  The creator of this device understood the mathematics behind creating the correctly sized and proportioned magnet to make this happen.   This was based on work done centuries ago by Michael Faraday.

2.  Is it really better?  -  I can personally tell you that the HydroFloss saved me from getting a Scaling and Root Planing Treatment.  The average cost for one of these treatments is around $1500.  I was able to get my gums healthy again by utilizing the hydrofloss.   This was confirmed by the same dentist who recommended the treatment to me.  She told me that whatever I was doing, I should keep doing it and that I no longer needed the Scaling and Root Planing or "deep cleaning" treatment that she had previously said was the only thing that would help me.

I was not disappointed to spend $129 for a machine that saved me $1500.  In addition, SRPs (Scaling and Root Planing Treatments or deep cleaning treatments) often have to be performed again within 1 to 3 years.   One gentleman told me that only 7  months after a laster gum treatment he was told that he needed a deep cleaning treatment.

3. Does it come with a warranty? -  Yes, every new hydrofloss comes with a 1 year warranty which is valid only if you purchase from a authorized distributor such as Toothy Grins.  There is a blue warranty card that comes with your hydrofloss.  On that card is a number you can use to get warranty service.  You may be required to show a receipt, showing the purchase date of your HydroFloss.  If you purchased your HydroFloss from Toothy Grins, we should have a receipt on file for you that we can email to you.

4. What if the hose is leaking?  - If the hose is leaking you can purchase a new hose and install it yourself.  There is even a helpful video on how to perform the repair on this page.
