Bleeding Gums And Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the beginning stage of gum disease.  If your gums bleed when you brush or floss or even at the dental office during regular cleanings, that is, generally speaking, a sign of diseased gum tissue.

You can ask your dentist to tell you for sure and rule out anything else.  But, the fact remains that most people have gum disease.

Dental professionals tell us that about 75% or 3 out of every 4 people do.  They see it every day. Therefore, they might not tell you if they see it, because it is so rampant that it has become 'normal' to them.

But it is not 'normal' and you should be concerned.  Eventually, when things get bad enough, your dental professional will probably suggest an expensive treatment.  So, try not to wait until things get to that point.

There are two resources that I (disclosure) wrote:

1.  How To Stop Gum Disease In 4 Easy Steps  get it here

2.  What You Should Know About Gum Disease  get it here

Both publications can provide you with critical information that you likely do NOT already know.  Perhaps they can even empower you to help yourself avoid the aforementioned expensive treatments.  Protecting yourself and your family are very important.

Why lose teeth if you don't have to?   Oh, did I forget to mention that gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss?

Gingivitis is just the beginning stage of gum disease.  Take it seriously.  Save and protect your teeth and dental health.

Sincerely,

Your Gums Are Bleeding Because You Don't Floss - Not Always True

its not always true that you are not flossing and brushing

There are people who do floss and their gums bleed.

This is still a bad sign.

You are tired of being scolded by the dentist for not flossing when you really do floss every day?
Sometimes regular brushing and flossing is just not enough to prevent gum disease.

Bleeding gums are often a sign of gum disease.  Of course, you want your dentist to check that to rule anything out, but much or even most of the time its gum disease.

Not that you are alone!

Many people really do have gum disease.  Some dental professionals say about 75% of people do.

One time, I read on the Mayo Clinic's website,  if my memory is correct, that they thought 95% of people over age 65 had gum disease!

This is bad because gum disease is definitely the number one cause of tooth loss!

So take action today.  Educate yourself, starting today!

The Dentist Makes My Gums Bleed And Then Blames It On Me! Or?

Yep.  Well, let's break this down a bit.  I'm afraid I have a little bad news to impart here.

The dentist bleeds my gums and blames me
Sorry to disappoint you with this news.  It's not your dentist's fault.  It really is your responsibility and your fault.   Sorry to do that to you, but if I can't wake you up now, it's a disservice to you.

So I had to say that.

Now pay attention:  Your dentist generally doesn't do anything that should make your gums bleed.  (ok if they are pulling a tooth, that's another story)

Pulled teeth are something you should strive to prevent anyhow!   Hint:(Clues all over this site)

If your gums bleed during examinations and cleanings, that is a sign that you have gum health problems.

A.K.A gum disease!

It Feels Like They Are Sticking Straight Pins Into Your Gums

This is just one more indicator that your gums are not healthy.  When / if you are able to get them to be healthy again, that probing won't hurt you at all.  You won't feel it.

I hope I've given you enough clues here to help you understand that this doesn't come from your dentist.

This is a problem you have to fix and relatively quickly too.

Dear Lady Who Just Cleaned My Teeth - My Gums Are Bleeding - Thank You

bleeding gumsI can tell you that this is not a very nice thing to say to your hygienist.

In fact, it is completely wrong.    Your hygienist actually is doing you a big favor when she cleans your teeth.

In fact, dental hygienists are the unsung heroes of dental health care and prevention.

Your gums should not bleed during a normal dental cleaning and check up.

Maybe a very tiny amount. Maybe

But, if you are getting a lot of blood and she is filling up gauze strip after strip, that is NOT a good sign.

It probably means you have gum disease.  Your dentist will be able to tell you if that is the case.

Most people do have some gum disease, unfortunately.
