Periodontal Pocket Depths of 5 - 6 mm? Try The Pocket Pal Jet Tips

periodontal pockets of five or six millimeters
Periodontal pockets are a problem that many people face.   It is in a person's best interest to shrink them to 3mm or less when possible.

The pocket pal jet tips that we carry are designed specifically for 5-6 mm pocket depths.

Of course, every human body is different.  There is no one thing that will work 100% of the time for 100% of the people, but if you use your Hydro Floss properly,  I think you have a pretty good chance.

Always be under the care of your dentist or periodontist.  You should definitely get your regular checkups and cleanings.  They can also measure and inform you of your periodontal pocket depths.

You may have to ask.  They might also be surprised that you know what they are.   But, these numbers are critical to your dental well-being.  So, you should know what they are.

What you do at home is the most important aspect to protecting your dental health and avoiding costly and painful problems in the future.

Keeping your teeth for a lifetime of good service is a worthy goal to have.  With a little bit of knowledge and effort, it might even be possible!

Do Different HydroFloss Tips Have Different Instructions For Use?

I received this email this morning:

"Thanks so much for the very helpful info in your April newsletter. I purchased a set of irrigator tips for deeper pockets, also. Do you angle these tips the same way that you angle the tips that came with the HydroFloss? Thank you in advance for your answer."

My answer:  Yes, in fact, the different tips do come with different directions.

Here are directions for 3 different types of tips:

1. Pocket Pal Tip Instructions:

Instructions for Use:

Irrigate thoroughly using the standard jet tip.   Instructions for use included with the Hydro Floss oral Irrigator.

Remove the standard jet tip and insert the Pocket Pal tip into the handle.

Important - NEVER use the Hydro Floss above the pressure setting #5 when using the Pocket Pal tip.

  • Fill the reservoir. Turn the Hydro Floss on and adjust the pressure control to a comfortable setting (#5 or lower). Direct the stream to the point where the tooth meets the gumline.
  • It is important to remove the Pocket Pal tip after each use.
  • Change the Pocket Pal tip often.  It is suggested that the tip be used for no more than 60 days.

[End instructions for Pocket Pals]

2. Sulcus Tip Instructions:

These Are The Instructions that Come With Each Package of Sulcus Tips:

Sulcus Oral Irrigation Jet Tip:

1. Irrigate thoroughly using the standard jet tip.  (Instructions for use included in the Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator)

2. Remove the standard jet tip and insert the Sulcus Tip Into the Handle.

IMPORTANT - NEVER use the Hydro Floss above pressure setting #5 when using the Sulcus Tip.

3. Fill the reservoir. Turn the HydroFloss on and adjust the pressure control to a comfortable setting (#5 or lower).  Direct the stream to the point where the tooth meets the gumline.

4. It is important to remove the Sulcus Tip after each use.

5. Change the Sulcus tip often.  It is suggested that the Sulcus tip be used for no more than 30-45 days.

------ [End}

Those are the instructions taken directly from a package of sulcus tips.

3. HydroFloss HydroFlex P-Series Cannulas Directions:

Here are the direction that come with the P-Series Cannulas:

1. Irrigate thoroughly with the Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator, using the standard jet tip (instructions included with the Hydro Floss).

2. Remove the standard jet tip, Insert the long narrow section of the adabpter into the handle until it snaps into place.  This is a pressure fitting so some force is required.

3. While holding the adapter firmly, insert the hub of the cannula into the adapter and twist firmly.  If water leaks near the exposed section of the adapter, it is not properly attached.

4. Set the pressure control of the Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator to #5.  IMPORTANT - Never use the Hydro Floss above the #5 pressure control setting when using the cannula.

5.  The cannula should be placed into the gingival sulcus and gently moved around the affected area.  Use of the pause button on the handle will provide better control.

[ Editor note:  If you are even a little unsure about how to use these tips, ask your dental hygienist to show you]

Adding Pocket Pals To Your Hydro Floss Order

What are pocket pals?   They are special tips that can be used with your Hydro Floss Oral irrigator!

They are  not to be used 'instead of'  but rather ' in addition' to.    If you have read my story about the doctor who uses these for preventive reasons, it may make more sense.

Pocket pal jet tips are made specifically for people who have 5 and 6 mm periodontal pockets.   Technically speaking, if your pockets are not that deep, you can skip them.   But again, there is the story I have of the oral surgeon who uses them on herself for preventive purposes.

Pocket pal tips come with special instructions similar to the sulcus tip special instructions to insure they are safe to use in a specific way.

I will tell you a little secret about these pocket pals.   If you are ordering a brand new Hydro Floss and you want to get a free package of pocket pals with it,  call us at 1-888-586-6849 and tell us that "Dave said so on the pocket pals".  **

If you are checking out online,  you can also add the above in your order notes and we will include the pocket pals.      This is a $14.99 value, so enjoy that benefit.   **

**This offer is only valid when ordering a brand new hydrofloss from ToothyGrinsStore.com  and only if requested at the time of your order.

Hydro Floss Sulcus Jet Tips

Hydro Floss Sulcus Jet Tips

I do receive calls about the HydroFloss sulcus jet tips.  But I try to steer people towards the pocket pal jet tips.

The reason why is because they both are designed to do the same job.   One big difference though is that the Pocket Pals have a nice soft rubber tip on the end.

The suclus tips have a harder plastic and it can be just a little bit irritating if you poke your gums with that tip.  So, I think the Pocket Pals are a better choice.

We stock the sulcus tips anyway because there are many people who have grown use to them and want them.   But it is good if you understand the differences.  Therefore, I wanted to let you know.

If you would like to read more about the Hydro Floss itself,  here is the link.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at 1-888-586-6849.
