What Are Sulcus Tips For With The Hydro Floss?

Sulcus Tips are for 5-6 mm pocketing.  If your dentist (or hygienist) has told you that your
periodontal pockets are at 5-6mm, then this tip might be for your.

They come with their own small instruction sheet.   Follow the instructions carefully.  They are not to be used the same as the regular jet tips.

Speaking of 5 to 6 millimeter periodontal pocketing, I suggest taking a look at the pocket pal tips instead.   They are, in my opinion, more comfortable to use.  This is due the soft rubber tip as opposed to the hard plastic on the sulcus tips.

They are designed for the same purpose.   So, from that standpoint it doesn't matter which you choose.  I just think the pocket pals are better from a comfort standpoint.

If you are on this page, you should already be familiar with the HydroFloss Oral Irrigator.   Just in case you are not, however, here is a link to read more about it.

Oral Irrigation With Sulcus Jet Tips

sulcus tip oral irrigation
These tips were designed for people who suffer from periodontal pocket depths ranging in the 5 - 6 mm range.

The pocket pal jet tips also serve this need as well.

Overall, it comes to a matter of preference.  I like the softer rubber tip on the pocket pals, but there are still people who prefer the sulcus tips.

These are both designed to fit the Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator.  They are NOT for other irrigators.  One customer thought they might fit another kind of irrigator, but I do not suggest trying that.   These are only for the Hydro Floss.

Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator and Sulcus Jet Tip Combo Package

Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator and Sulcus Jet Tip Combo Package

Today, we have added this combination package to make it easier for people who want a brand new hydrofloss and the sulcus jet tips together.

As you hopefully already know, the Hydro Floss can have a significant impact on your dental health.  It could potentially save you thousands of dollars via prevention.

When you consider that a single implant will cost you a couple of thousand dollars, it really is not an exaggeration.  Yet, some implantologists also  recommend the Hydro Floss for existing implant patients as well.   (They believe It can help to keep the implant site healthy.)

Three  out of every 4 people have gum disease.   Most dental professionals will tell you that.  Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss.

Periodontal pocket depths

This is the objective measurement of your gum health.   Generally speaking, above 3mm indicates gum disease, below generally equates to healthy gums.  Of course, you would get your diagnosis from your dentist.    But that is generally how it is.

If you are able to reduce your pocket depths down to 3mm or below, generally speaking, you will have 'it under control' so to speak.   When the pockets are small, it is difficult for the bacteria to grow to large enough quantities to harm your dental health.

Unfortunately, most people have deeper pockets and they really have no idea.

Will the Hydro Floss Work For You?

Nothing can be guaranteed to work 100% of the time for 100% of the people.   But here is how you can find out:

1.  Have your hygienist record your periodontal pocket depths (maybe they already have them recorded).

2.  Use the Hydro Floss, following the 'best practice' use,  for at least 30 days.   Then have your dentist measure those pocket depths again.  This is a nice objective way to see if it is working for you or not.

Hydro Floss Sulcus Tips Instructions

These Are The Instructions that Come With Each Package of Sulcus Tips:

Sulcus Oral Irrigation Jet Tip:

1. Irrigate thoroughly using the standard jet tip.  (Instructions for use included in the Hydro Floss Oral Irrigator)

2. Remove the standard jet tip and insert the Sulcus Tip Into the Handle.

IMPORTANT - NEVER use the Hydro Floss above pressure setting #5 when using the Sulcus Tip.

3. Fill the reservoir. Turn the HydroFloss on and adjust the pressure control to a comfortable setting (#5 or lower).  Direct the stream to the point where the tooth meets the gumline.

4. It is important to remove the Sulcus Tip after each use.

5. Change the Sulcus tip often.  It is suggested that the Sulcus tip be used for no more than 30-45 days.

------ [End}

Those are the instructions taken directly from a package of sulcus tips.

The HydroFloss is the premier oral irrigator in my opinion.  I use it personally and I have had the opportunity to talk to a LOT of people who also use it.

I can tell you this.  It seems to really help people, including myself, to keep our gums and teeth healthy.    I do believe I and the other people have saved ourselves a lot of money by avoiding expensive dental treatments just because we use the Hydro Floss on a daily basis.

Why is it different than other irrigators?

Hydro Floss Sulcus Jet Tips

Hydro Floss Sulcus Jet Tips

I do receive calls about the HydroFloss sulcus jet tips.  But I try to steer people towards the pocket pal jet tips.

The reason why is because they both are designed to do the same job.   One big difference though is that the Pocket Pals have a nice soft rubber tip on the end.

The suclus tips have a harder plastic and it can be just a little bit irritating if you poke your gums with that tip.  So, I think the Pocket Pals are a better choice.

We stock the sulcus tips anyway because there are many people who have grown use to them and want them.   But it is good if you understand the differences.  Therefore, I wanted to let you know.

If you would like to read more about the Hydro Floss itself,  here is the link.
