High pH Drinking Water - An Inexpensive Way

What does high pH drinking water mean exactly?

There is a pH scale and basically 7 on that scale is considered neutral.  At the same time 1 is considered very acidic and 13 or 14 would be considered very basic.

There are theories in natural healing that drinking higher pH drinking water is good for your body.  That would mean 7 or above.  (but don't go too high)

Most tap water and bottled water (but not all) is acidic.  So, that irritates the natural health folks.

We are talking theory here, keep that in mind.   The more natural oriented healers and doctors talk about making the body more alkaline because they believe that the basis for disease often has to do with what they consider an 'acidic' body.

You will find scientist, doctors and other experts on both sides of the debate as to whether there is truth to this theory or not.  Never the less, many people are seeking alkaline water.  One of the easiest ways to get it is through an alkaline water pitcher.  Why?  Because it is simple, convenient and
relatively inexpensive.

What does Inexpensive Mean?

I previously wrote a post on inexpensive alkaline water that you can check out. at your leisure.  Basically, (no pun intended) there are these big, bulky expensive machines that cost thousands of dollars to purchase.   But with the alkaline water pitchers like the one mentioned above, and the portables, you bring your cost way down.   So far down, in fact that it is possible for the average person to have quality alkaline water at their fingertips.

The Mouth

While what we talked about above is in the realm of theory more or less, the affect that alkalinity and acid have your teeth and gums are not.   It's clear that acid is bad for your teeth and gums and alkaline is better.

pH

You don't want to go too high on your pH either.  Just getting to 7 or above is good enough.   Of course,  some might disagree.  Whatever your thoughts, you can share them below in the comments section.

Cracked And Broken Teeth - Avoid Them!

Video:  Cracked and Broken Teeth - Avoid Them!  :

I actually made this video quite some time ago and it has amassed several thousand views.  When I listen to it, I realize that I did not filter out the "ums" and pauses etc.   If I were to make that video today, I probably would have.

Never-The-Less the message in the video is quite valid today.   It is a shame how  many people end up with problems because they don't have a grasp of some very basic concepts.

Check Mouth pH

In order to give yourself a better understanding of what is happening in your mouth, it would be cool if you could get your hands on some pH testing strips.   Your local pharmacy may or may not have them.  You might have to hunt around a bit, but they are out there.

Spit onto a small dish and use the pH strip to test your saliva.  Do NOT put the pH strips in your mouth - ever.   Then drink something acidic, like an energy drink or -gasp- a cup of coffee.   Afterwards, test your saliva's pH again.

Then, you can try the pH balancing mouthwash and see what effect it has.   You can try all kinds of different things, such as chewing xylitol gum, then you can see the effects on the mouth's pH.  Pretty soon, you will have a new awareness growing.

You mouth's saliva is designed to rebuild and strengthen your enamel.   But, if has a really hard time doing that in an acidic environment.

Lifestyle changes are hard to pull off. In other words, it is not likely that you are going to stop drinking coffee, soda, energy drinks, and other similar things.   Many foods are also acidic in the mouth, including those that people claim 'balance the pH of the body'.    When it is in the mouth, if it is acidic, it is a potential problem.

Therabreath Perio Therapy Mouthwash

At Toothy Grins Store we are glad to offer our customers Perio Therapy Mouthwash by Therabreath

The reason we like this product is that it was specially formulated to support healthy gum tissue.  As you undoubtedly know by now, gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss.

Keeping our gums healthy can really help to save our teeth.  It can also save ourselves and our families from unnecessary expense and pain.

What Makes This Mouthwash Special?

That is an easy question to answer.   pH balance is the first reason.  The 'bad' bacteria don't like a higher pH.  Instead, they like an acidic environment.    pH balance can also help your saliva to do its natural job of strengthening your teeth.   Acid moves that reaction in the opposite direction and ultimately weakening tooth enamel.

Oxygen is the second reason.   Oxygen has the power to either kill anearobic bacteria (the bad guys) or cause them to act like good guys (forcing them into normal metabolism).    In either case it is a win for you.

In addition, essential oils like spearmint and tea tree oil are in this formula.  This adds to the bacteria killing power in a non artificial-chemical way.

Finally, zinc is known to help strengthen and support gum tissue.

These are the reasons why this is a superior mouthwash to be using.

The Alternative Is Expensive

You will have no problem finding a multitude of dentist who will do expensive repairs and implants for you.  There is no shortage.   But what if you could save yourself and those whom you love from the expense and pain of all of that trouble and fuss?

There really is no substitute for your own natural teeth.   If you can give yourself a better chance to keep your gums and teeth healthy and strong, isn't it worth working towards?

The Principles

I have put forth many more principles that you probably are unaware of in the book:  What You Should Know About Gum Disease.   It is written in easy to understand language.  You can read more about it here.

Bad Breath Is Such A Drag!

You Know That Bad Breath Is A Turn Off

The topic of bad breath comes up in every day conversation frequently.  People complain about 'that guy on the bus",  "that sales clerk", or "that customer".

It comes in so many forms too.  There is coffee breath, garlic breath, cigarette breath and just plain old horrible bad breath!   We have all experienced what it is like to deal with a person who has bad breath.

Even worse, is our own bad breath - when we are aware of it!   Nature has played a nice trick.  She allows us to get used to our own bad breath gradually, so that we are no longer aware of it.

The problem is that everyone else still is!  This problem affects people's lives.  It can cause trouble for our relationships and in our professional life.

When you are in an interview and completely unaware of your bad breath,  that could spell disaster.  Those hiring managers are looking for an excuse / reason to either hire you or overlook you.  They have a lot of people to go through.

Like a first date, an interview requires our best foot forward.   We need to provide that.

Selling something?   Sales are tough enough as it is.  Does anyone want to complicate the  process with bad breath?   On the sellers side, it is not so pleasant to have a customer like that either, is it?

Chronic Bad Breath and Morning Breath

A lot of it has to do with the kind of bacteria that are growing in our mouths.   There are of course, other factors too.  For example, there are tonsil stones and geographical tongues (a fissured and grooved tongue) that makes it easy for smelly bacteria to make a home and shield themselves from oxygen.

A problem like that can become chronic, that just means the bacteria that produce these older have grown in colony size to an unmanageable level.  That would be a level where they are constantly producing enough odor to cause others to notice.   When this persists over long periods of time or keeps coming back, then it is chronic.

Morning breath is a problem that couples complain about.   Sometimes to each other but many times to friends and relatives.   That doesn't put the owner of such breath in the best light.  It can also make that person the butt  of some jokes too!

Stopping The Problem

pH balanced, oxygenated products are the way to go.   You want to avoid products that strictly mask a problem without actually doing anything to stop those bacteria.    Mints and gum are only temporary, they don't last long and the problem is back again.

pH balance and oxygen can be more helpful and the effects can last longer.  This is because both affect the rate of growth of the bacteria population and even whether they stay alive or not.

pH balance slows the rate of growth.   Oxygen can either kill them or can cause the to change the way they process all that food in  your mouth.   In either case, it is a win for you!

And for everyone else, isn't it?
